Vor Siri g a beautiful indigenous community on Palawan . I was very lucky to be invited. I this community the shaman, who is the leader , the healer can also function as the midwife . Unfortunately “ Homebirth “ seems to have become illegal in the Philippines and traditional midwifery seems to vanish . They danced for us and I really enjoyed learning some things about them. Listening to a baby‘s heartbeat brings great joy to the mother and of course to the midwife. It brings already to reality what is going to come next. Did you know that the babies heart rate ❤️is between 120 beats to 160 bpm? 🐎It sounds like a little horse racing but that’s exactly how it Hass to sound. Of course, during the pregnancy it changes the earlier in the pregnancy your baby is, the fast and the heart is beating. still at the end it has to be between 120 and 160 bpm and it has to go up and down and move. All of that is a sign that the baby is doing well. And I am honest being able to read the babies heartbeat and what it really has to look like is a real skill and it actually takes quite some time to learn that. Something many women infect ask them selves. No some people will say wow the moment you hold a baby in your arms everything is fine. Well I cannot agree on that to be honest. In the past 40 years I have attended 3000 babies being born so I can say no it’s not just holding a baby in your arms that will make things good. It is how are you going to experience your labor how is your pregnancy every step of this process until you give birth. Now I’m honest 11 to 15% of all women will have a C-section or intervention. And that’s OK. Even if you have an intervention or a C-section you could still look back on the birth and say it was a positive experience. The question Aires is how do you get there?. Well it’s how are you prepared and how you can use all your skills on the day. So after 40 years I have a many stories and things to share.
